History of Laptops

In 1970s and 1980s lots of efforts were seen to build portable personal computers as well as small in size that combine all the components and features like inputs, outputs as well as capabilities of a desktop computer in a small chassis . Before laptop computers were announced, similar ideas were being proposed as in the early 1970s Alan Kay's Dynabook concept, which was developed at Xerox PARC. One of the first feasible portable computers was Xerox NoteTaker  in 1976, which was also developed at Xerox  PARC. However, only 10 models were built.

The Xerox Note Taker was an earlier computer which was portable and had components of a desktop computer was developed by a team including Adele GoldbergDouglas Fairbairn, and Larry Tesler.
